"100% lah Dr!!." + "101%!!" + "absolute!!" : we blurted our guessing to answer her question.
"Yeah, those are percentages. But what is the probability?" She asked again.
Silence. (krikkk krikkkk crickety sound)
The answer is 1.
10 sets of eyebrows raised simultaneously followed with "Aaaaaaaaah...."
But I'm sure many us still don't get her point at that point. Myself included.
Then she explained how from 100% rate is equal to 1.
And researcher infer figure -1 to 1 in their studies.
Example: if 95% true : 0.05 chance of being true (from null).
She later explained that this is SIGNIFICANT LEVEL = P Value
We always infer chances from the null because, researcher ALWAYS TEST THE NULL HYPOTHESIS. Always START WITH NO to your Hypotheses: no correlation or no association.
